'Tis the Season for Donating: Consider Giving to Local Schools!

babyphoto

Have you thought about making a holiday donation to your local school this year?

It’s the first week of December, and that means your local malls are probably filled with wish trees and bell ringers, and you’re probably being asked by every cashier you see if you’d like to donate a dollar today. All these requests for donations can be a little overwhelming, but there truly are so many people out there who need help. The problem is, the need doesn’t seem to lessen once the holidays are over.

This year, I wanted to find a way to make our donation dollars go a little further. We took a tag off the wish tree, and we’re giving at the food bank, but we’ve also decided to make a donation to my son’s preschool. They’re under new ownership and struggling to buy supplies, which is a problem in so many educational settings these days. Since budget problems usually lead to things like art and music getting the axe first, we decided to donate an assortment of craft supplies that might help throughout the year.

We turned to Oriental Trading because they have the biggest selection of craft supplies at the lowest prices we could find.  From Valentine’s Day cards and Mother’s Day fridge magnets to Thanksgiving table decorations and more, Oriental Trading has everything you could want to help kids celebrate all year long.

Oriental Trading

We chose everyday items like stickers and glue dots, along with some fun Christmas, Easter, and Valentine’s Day decorations. (Love the mice with candy cane tails!) I couldn’t resist the photo quilt (on top, with the brightly colored strings) that allows each child to personalize their own unique square. We rounded out the gift with some fun blue whales for summer!

Oriental Trading also carries lots of classroom necessities, like teaching supplies to help with things like language arts, math fundamentals…even simple classroom storage. Or, help promote positivity in the classroom with incentive stickers, award ribbons, bookmarks or party supplies.

With a wide selection and low, low prices, Oriental Trading is the perfect place to invest those donations this year. You know that look of pride your child has when they walk in the house with a project they made at school? Make sure they keep that feeling all year long with easy, inexpensive school and craft supplies shipped right to your home or gift recipient.

Classroom Gift Idea: Team up with a group of other parents to make a larger donation. If each parent “sponsors” one holiday, the whole year will be more fun! Oriental Trading offers free shipping on orders over $49, so you’ll benefit from placing one order together.

What a great idea! We just joined a FREE preschool that meets once a week. I am sooo thankful to have this opportunity for my daughter. I will definitely check into what they might need and how to donate!

I’m constantly donating items to my grandson’s preschool. It’s such a nice feeling to give back!
