Calling all Disney fans! Disney’s MOANA is now playing in theaters nationwide, along with the soundtrack in my car every time we go anywhere. My kids are obsessed. Truth be told, I’m a little obsessed, too. The first thing I did the day after we saw Disney’s latest masterpiece was Google SHINY, the song by the deliciously diabolical crab Tamatoa, so I could hear and watch it again.
Tamatoa’s SHINY
It’s just so much devious fun, and the Bowie vibe is undeniable. In today’s email, I found the full “Shiny” song sequence from the film, so I thought I’d save you the trouble The song is written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Jemaine Clement.
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows exactly why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) meets the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder.
If you haven’t heard SHINY yet, be prepared. It’s catchy as all get out.
