Running safety gear was provided to facilitate this review.
Well, it’s official. I’m back in my running shoes, and knee-deep in training for this year’s Chocolatetown Challenge – or at least part of it. I’ll be running the Hershey 10K and the Hershey Half later this year, but before that I’ll be running another race that’s very close to my heart. It’s called Running for Rachel and it’s held every year by the family of a friend of mine who died from duodenal cancer at the age of 25. I think of Rachel often, and her energy is SO present each year at the race, so I’m really excited to be running for her with my son by my side this year! I can’t wait to show him what the camaraderie feels like on the day of a running event.
Running Safety Matters
I also can’t wait to start feeling fit again. That means getting back on the horse, so to speak, and training like I mean it. No excuses, no schedule limitations. Moving my body needs to happen, and that might mean that I have to run when the timing isn’t ideal. (Life with little ones, you know.) Our area is fairly rural and our road is busy, which makes me nervous around dusk when I’m trying to squeeze in the end of my longer runs. I used to put reflective tape on my sweatshirt, but not any more! My friends at Empower sent over a NiteBright Ultra-Reflective Safety Vest and I can’t believe I didn’t have something like this sooner.
Empower Fitness makes easy-to-use fitness products exclusively for women, and they fit well without restricting a runner’s range of motion. Empower recently launched a line of workout accessories for women featuring retro-reflective ink technology, which illuminates in low-light hours but looks like a completely normal and fashionable print in daylight. It’s one of the only product lines of its kind in the country, offering the most stylish alternative to traditional fitness safety gear.
This is totally cute, don’t you think?
I enlisted the help of my little runner to show you what it looks like when a light shines on it (the Retro-Reflective Technology) and, as you can see, it’s brighter than bright! There’s no way anyone would miss you running down the road with this baby on. And even if you don’t regularly run in the dark, you never know when that dusky semi-darkness might sneak up on you, especially as summer approaches.
Better safe than sorry, right?
The vest fits over running gear, accommodates sizes XS-XL, and the adjustable hook and loop closure keeps it snug without being too tight or too loose. The line also includes fleece “fittens”, headbands, wrist wallets and even a super cute scarf – and they all match!
Be safe. Be seen. The NiteBright Ultra Reflective Safety Vest is available to purchase in stores at Target (in stores or online), along with other reflective pieces to keep you safe. See the entire line of Empower fitness gear here.
