Our big announcement: 3+1=4!

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you may have already heard the news, but if not…

We’re expecting!

That’s right! I’ve got a bun in the oven! Baby #2 has decided to join our family, and not a moment too soon. I had planned on having my babies much closer together, but this baby took his (her?) sweet ol’ time and made us wait. We’re about 13 weeks along, and it looks like we’ll be welcoming our new little bundle toward the end of February, 2013. We couldn’t be happier!

I can’t wait to hold tiny fingers again!

So, if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been,  I’ll tell you. I’ve been curled up in a ball on the couch. Like, ALL summer. Apparently, pregnancies can differ a whole lot, because this one is nothing like my first. I’ve been nauseated nearly all day, and beyond exhausted. I’m still working full time with my crazy 130-mile/day commute (which isn’t helping), and then there’s the small matter of my active 2 1/2 year old, who simply does not understand why Mommy doesn’t feel like playing. I haven’t been posting recipes because, well, I haven’t been cooking, or eating much of anything. The one thing that does seem consistent with my pregnancies is the first-trimester aversion to anything remotely resembling a vegetable. Definitely an obstacle for a healthy foodie blogger. (And I wish I had come up with a more creative way of breaking the news here, but honestly, just writing a post is about all I can muster. Coffee! I miss you!)

So, I’ve given myself permission to slack for a little while on my poor little blog, mainly because forced posts aren’t good posts, and you don’t want to read them anyway. Despite the best intentions, sometimes life just gets in the way (and sometimes a new life gets in the way…) and a break can only be positive. Plus, I really wanted to wait until the first trimester was over to tell you, and now we’re here! Yay! And you should see me…I’m HUGE! Totally showing, and I have been for weeks! Photos soon, I promise…

What’s next?

I have high hopes for the next several months. I have home improvement projects galore planned, which I’ll tell you all about, but I’m also lining up some great baby product reviews and giveaways! I love that I’m going into this branch of my parenting journey with a little experience under my belt, and I can’t wait to share with you some of our favorite natural, eco-friendly baby and kid products (some for Mom, too!) and the extraordinary companies behind them. This is such an exciting time, and I’m so glad to have all of you to share it with.

What does the future look like?

This is where I’m stumped. What will the future look like once I have this baby? I’m stoked for a 3-month maternity leave to just spend time with my littles, but I honestly have no idea what life might look like once that ends. Will I still commute to my corporate job, 65 miles away? Will a new opportunity present itself? Or will I roll the dice and make some serious game-changing decisions? I just don’t know. Stay tuned, kids.

One thing is for sure…life is about to change, and things are going to get a lot more interesting soon. I really think I can already feel this baby moving! Love those flutters! 🙂

Thanks! 🙂 It’s already getting better…just a little, but better. No sense in complaining, though, right? The end result is soo worth it!
