This post about bathroom sink faucets was brought to you by Moen, who provided the product to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.
My birthday is this week. I’m getting up into “yikes” territory, but to be honest, I’m pretty OK with it. Being this age (we’ll just call it “this age” for now) isn’t exactly what I thought it would be, but what really is?
There are a lot of crappy things that happen when you get older. I’m creakier and sleepier and less able to hang for all nighters like I did in my 20s.
But there are perks, too. For real perks.
Like the fact that your friends all have professions now, and a lot of them know stuff. Stuff you need. Gone are the stoners and wanderers I used to hang with – they’ve all grown into cool things like teachers and accountants and real estate appraisers. Things that come in awfully handy when you’re a grown-up!
It’s like a totally PG-rated version of “friends with benefits.”
Take, for example, our family friend who owns a ton of rental properties. Once upon a time, he told my Dad how to keep things easy and stress-free. “Just be sure to put on a new coat of paint and install a Moen faucet and you’ll never have to go back.” He was generalizing, of course, but the guy knows his stuff, and if he says Moen, we buy Moen.
I like having smart friends.
On that advice, we chose all Moen fixtures for our new bathroom remodel. The full reveal isn’t ready yet, but I’m happy to give a sneak peek at our new faucet. It’s the Ashville™ Two-handle Centerset Bathroom Faucet, available exclusively at The Home Depot.
I love the look, the handles, the sleek lines and timeless style, but that’s not all…
Hold onto your hats, folks. This faucet has antimicrobial properties.
How can a faucet resist bacteria? Um, yeah…I don’t quite know. But this is what Moen says: The faucet uses Microban® antimicrobial protection technology, which helps prevent the growth of damaging stain- and odor-causing bacteria on the faucet finish.
With kids around? This is brilliant!
And guess what ELSE this faucet has – a Spot Resist™ finish that makes clean-up easy by resisting fingerprints and water spots.
Did I mention my fingerprinty kids, ages 4 and 1?! O.M.G.!
We chose this particular faucet for our sink because it matched the brushed nickel Adler tub/shower fixtures we had already installed, and they have a Spot Resist finish, too!
Besides being easy to clean (practically self-cleaning, really) I just really like the way our new Moen fixtures work. When you turn the handle on a good quality faucet, you know it. It’s strong, sturdy and smooth, and I have every confidence that our friend Hank was right. He’s been in the home reno biz a long time. (Because, like I said, we’re all old. 🙂 )
But at least I’ll be growing older along with my sink and shower, because we won’t be looking to replace them any time in the near future. In fact, the only things we have left to do are our towel bar and TP holder, and I’m heading right back to Moen.
Because if it ain’t broke…well, you know the saying.
