NurturMe Organic Baby Food {Review and Giveaway}

babyphoto

Funny how baby food has changed over time, isn’t it? Even just a few short years ago, I was given rice cereal as a gift at my baby shower, along with instructions on how to put it into my baby’s bottle to make him sleep longer.

Um, no. We skipped rice altogether and now, with our second baby, we’ve pretty much skipped baby food, too. But that doesn’t mean I don’t keep some things around the house specifically for my baby to eat. While she does eat what we eat most of the time, we do have a cabinet devoted solely to NurturMe organic baby food.

NurturMe Baby Food

NurturMe is different because it’s freeze-dried (some varieties are drum-dried.) All you have to do is add a little water or breastmilk and you’ve got a fresh-tasting, creamy baby food. They’re available in singles or fun blends like squash, banana and green kale. My favorite variety is the quinoa, which we eat a lot of because it’s such a valuable complete protein. I love having the option of adding it to my baby’s foods with such ease. I also rely on NurturMe for times when we’re running low on variety in our kitchen. With these easy powders, I always have a fruit or veggie on hand when I need it.

They also offer Yum-a-Roos, which are tiny pieces of dehydrated fruits and vegetables, like bananas, peas, pineapple and even broccoli. They are available in different blends for your sitting-up toddler. My daughter eats the bananas, but the peas are still a bit hard for her to handle so my son eats those. Watching them share is priceless. We just might be stuffing stockings with these this year!

About the Company

The moms below are Caroline Freedman and Lauren McCullough too, the NurturMe co-founders, based in Austin, TX. I like knowing that the company was started by moms like me (instead of a huge company who decided to profit from a “natural” division.) These are moms on a mission to create a better option for their kids and, in turn, my kids and yours.

. photo NurturMeFounders.png

All NurturMe products are organic, certified GMO-free, dye-free, kosher and gluten-free (except for one variety, the sweet potato/oatmeal/banana blend). Plus, all products come in BPA-free packaging.

^^ Those would be the things that caught my attention first. Gotta have a checklist, right? NurturMe passed mine with flying colors.

Even if you’re not in the baby food stage, NurturMe can be a valuable ingredient in many of your kids’ meals. Add a packet to recipes like Plump Peas Froggy Pasta or Scrumptious Squash Mac ‘n Cheese for an extra nutrient boost! You can see all of their popular recipes for kids on their website. I’m looking forward to trying them in some of my baking. I’m thinking mini muffins!
