In every marketing conference, webinar and class I’ve taken over the past two years, there’s been a common thread: the importance of a brand’s mission. There are a LOT of places out there to spend your money, and more and more folks are trying to find the best way to make their purchases work harder by supporting companies that support good causes. I definitely fit into that category of shopper, and my very favorite company with a strong social mission is prAna.
prAna offers sustainable clothes for yoga, travel, & outdoor adventure enthusiasts. Mindfully designed and built to last clothing. ~prAna
I love being able to cut down the size of my wardrobe by investing in pieces that can be worn from season to season. In addition to being versatile enough for any lifestyle (that’s me in the Uptown Pant at the beach in August, and I’m wearing them again as I type this in December) prAna is breaking new ground in how they’re transforming gift-giving at its core. When you purchase a gift from their collection for your family, your friends, or even yourself, you’re getting more than comfortable, stylish, versatile clothing and accessories. You’re making a difference in the lives of others, and helping prAna give back to the people who produce those products, along with the prAna employees and community. And really, when your purchase helps others live better lives, it’s a gift for everyone.
Each gift from prAna has a story.
Here are a few examples of items from prAna that have a very specific “giving back” story.
The Deedra Sweater Tunic is made with an organic cotton blend. When you buy organic cotton, you’re supporting a process that helps eliminate harmful pesticides and fertilizers, preserving biodiversity of the land and better living conditions for farmers.
The Mantra Pant is made with a hemp blend material, again cutting down the use of pesticides and fertilizers, which is safer for farmers and the environment.
The Mae Scarf is sustainably made, using materials and engaging in partnerships with companies that adhere to strict guidelines for safety and efficacy. It’s yet another way you can contribute to a great working environment and better living conditions for farmers and employees.
If there was ever a time I walked the walk, it’s with prAna. Most days, whether I’m at the office, the gym, or soccer practice, you’ll find me wearing at least one piece from prAna. My current fave piece is the Deedra Tunic that I mentioned above. Excuse my awkward photo here, but I just had to show you the back. (Not easy without a photo helper.) The different knit is just the perfect simple yet beautiful detail, which is a hallmark of prAna style.
