As a #SweetestMoms ambassador, I received a complementary stay at The Hotel Hershey for review purposes.
I know I rave about Hershey, PA a lot. But seriously, what’s not to love about a town full of sweet attractions, great food, kid-friendly travel destinations and CHOCOLATE? No matter what we do in Hershey, from theater to hockey to gathering around a crackling fireplace at one of Hershey’s family-friendly travel resorts, it always exceeds our expectations and helps us create sweet childhood memories for our kids.
The Hotel Hershey and Christmas Candylane
Our most recent overnighter in Hershey, PA was at The Hotel Hershey – a definite change of pace for us since becoming parents. (I’ve only stayed there by myself in the past.) We normally love staying at the Hershey Lodge because it’s so ideal for kids, but we just couldn’t resist taking them to see Hershey’s more upscale resort all decked out in its holiday best.
We were so surprised by how much there was for all of us to do as a family! From the moment we checked in, greeted by our friend the Hershey Bar, the kids were amped. But it was all good – the Hotel has its ballrooms and grown-up luxurious side, but everything from the festive decor to the shuttle bus that took us right to Hersheypark’s Christmas Candylane was merry, family-friendly perfection.
The Historic Hotel Hershey
The Hotel Hershey, an official resort of Hersheypark, is a beautiful, historic hotel located right in the heart of Hershey, PA. Built during the great depression, Milton Hershey built the 170-room masterpiece overlooking his chocolate factory as a way of providing employment for the people of Hershey. Be sure to walk slowly in the hallways, because they’re lined with reminders of the area’s long backstory.
The Hotel Hershey is family-friendly and full of amenities and sweet notes to make your all members of the family feel right at home. For example, Mom and Dad will fall in love with the in-room Starbucks coffee supply and chocolate mandarin scented bath goodies…
And the kids will be entranced by the sweet surprises around every corner! Especially the can’t-miss shops in the lobby…
Hungry Kids Welcome!
Dining options at The Hershey Hotel are family-friendly, too. Fine dining can be found at the Iberian Lounge, Trevi 5 or locally-sourced Harvest, and most of the on-site options accommodate children nicely.
Keeping it really casual? Dine at Hersheypark or at the Cocoa Beanery! One thing you simply must do is treat yourself to a visit at the Circular Lounge (the breakfast buffet – complete with omelet station, Kiss waffles and warm chocolate bread pudding – is the stuff of legends.)
If the kids are feeling rowdy or sleepy (or you just need some downtime), get takeout from Trevi 5 like we did and simply take it to your room! Room service is also available, but ordering our food at the restaurant also gave me a chance to snag a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Martini at the bar while I waited. #MomWin
Fun Perks for Kids
Other kid-friendly travel perks include free kids’ check-in, the Cocoa Clubhouse complete with activities for kids 5+, during peak season and holidays. Bring your swimsuits because there are indoor (and outdoor, depending on season) pools and a splashpad!
A full schedule of activities that varies throughout the year is available at check-in or you can view it online. Check it out when you arrive and you’ll know exactly when and where to catch Hershey’s character appearances, along with fun activities like family s’mores roasts, chocolate bingo, cookie decorating, hayrides and more! (Activities change from season to season.)
Featured Packages and Offers
Our trip included the Christmas Candylane package, but kid-friendly travel packages are available every season at The Hotel Hershey. Seeing how well The Hotel Hershey does Christmas definitely made me want to make our visits seasonal in 2017. Maybe a Valentine’s Day getaway, or a Mother’s Day visit that includes Hershey Gardens?
