Sometimes you just need a real girls’ night out, and The Hotel Hershey Wine & Food Festival is the perfect occasion to gather your girlfriends and whoop it up in the sweetest place on earth. And as special as it is, the Wine & Food Festival is just one of the many, many food-filled events that take place throughout the year in Hershey, PA! Many thanks to Hershey Resorts and Entertainment for hosting us!
When I first saw the press release about The Wine & Food Festival at The Hotel Hershey months ago, I knew I had to attend. I couldn’t make the entire weekend (real life, you know how it is. Soccer practice, yardwork, etc.), but one event? I could absolutely make that happen! And it was the perfect opportunity to get in a little girl time with one of my besties who just returned to work from maternity leave.
Wine, Dine and Punch Lines with Laurie Forster
Can you think of any better combination than wine, food and laughs? Me neither. So naturally, we had a blast at the Wine, Dine and Punch Lines event.
The invitation specified “heavy hors d’oeuvres,” and they weren’t kidding. There was roasted poultry, mouthwatering pasta dishes with sausage and seafood, a wide variety of cheeses, dips and breads, and later, dessert. Trying to sum up the food at an event in Hershey is tough, because when they put on a spread, it’s like no other. The quality is top notch, and I have even been known to rave about the water. For real.
The lighting was low and I was trying to focus on the event rather than loads of photos, but I did manage to snap a few to give you an idea of what The Hotel Hershey means when they say hors d’oeuvres.
As we sipped and sampled, we had the opportunity to speak with Kim, the winemaker from Loveblock Wines. They sponsored the event, and the Loveblock was flowing freely all night. Kim took the time to explain his 30-year history in the wine business, Loveblock’s commitment to sustainable, organic wine growing methods, and even the meaning behind the art on the label. (There’s a sun and a moon in there!)
It was such a nice atmosphere, and getting that little inside look at our hosts and their passion was a lovely touch. Nothing felt crowded or rushed, and the vibe was as chill as the wine.
An added bonus of the night: I found my new favorite pour! Loveblock’s buttery, beautiful Sauvignon Blanc. A white is not even my usual pick, but I truly fell in love with this one. Kim told me that I could try requesting it at my local wine shop, and you can bet I’ll be doing that before the holidays!
After a bit of imbibing, we were ushered into the night’s main attraction, which featured The Stand-Up Sommelier, Laurie Forster.
Laurie is not only a world-class sommelier, but a stand-up comedian, too! She was totally down-to-earth, really funny, and sure enough – we actually learned a lot about wine! I even got up on stage to answer a few (embarrassing) questions thanks to my friend who pushed me up there. No worries, though. She was forgiven when I won a bottle of Loveblock Pinot Gris to take home!
There was an array of spectacular wine, and the desserts were just as impressive. There was singing, laughter and new friends to be made. Overall, it was a night to remember, but honestly, any trip to Hershey is pretty much guaranteed to be memorable.

It’s definitely on my calendar for the new year. And don’t forget to book a room at The Hotel Hershey, especially if wine is involved. (My review is coming soon!)
