And so begins the Holiday Gift Guide recommendations of 2015! Are you ready? I’m starting with the rock star of holiday gifts: the shiny new bike. But not just any bike – this is the perfect bike for ages 18 months to 5 years, and it will help your kids learn to ride a bike confidently and build skills in no time. It’s the Classic Strider Bike!Put a bow on a classic Strider Bike this year so your kids can ride safely with confidence! #HolidayGift Click To Tweet
The Strider Bike also comes in a mid-level Sport model and a high-end Pro, but we are beginners so we started with the Classic. To be honest, I had no idea why anyone would want a bike without pedals until I watched my son get started on his Strider.
I literally could not get a photo of him from the front because he just kept zipping by me.
Learning to balance with confidence came quickly, because he was able to follow the Strider Riding Progression:
- standing walking
- seated walking
- seated running
- footrests: seated gliding
- footrests: standing gliding
- footrests: trick riding – you can even find championship racing events!
Once I saw the Strider bike in action and read about the progression in the handbook we got, I totally understood. This glider bike thing makes perfect sense!
The ultralight steel frame is light enough for the kids to carry around yet super sturdy, and the bike itself is fully adjustable. It’s a good thing too, because as much as Mr. Cool here loves his Strider Bike…
He’s got a little tagalong that loves it, too! My first thought was that my kids could share our new Strider because it’s the perfect size for both of them (and the adjustments are quick and easy) but…I think we may need another one. Maybe pink? I wasn’t counting on their new bike being the hottest thing at our house.
Although it does help that her big brother is now in Kindergarten all day. When the cat’s away, the mouse steals the Strider Bike!
If you’re considering a Strider Bike for a holiday gift, I know your first question. “What’s the assembly like?” Well, I assure you, you will not be up all night putting this together. We had ours assembled and ready to ride in about 5 minutes. Just toss a bow on it and you’re done!
