I was asked by The J. M. Smucker Company to share some travel snack ideas for kids. All opinions are my own.
Whoa. Where did summer go? I know, I’m not the first person to say that this week. Have you seen all the kids heading back to school already? Not us, though. My little Kindergartener doesn’t start until September 9th, so I’m in high gear right now, trying to fit in as much summer as we can before our very first school year starts!
First order of business? Stocking up on healthy snacks. Because whether it’s a day trip or a week on the road, every vacation turns into a SNACKATION when energetic kids are along for the ride!
My little ones are total fruit fanatics, but that doesn’t help much with protein to keep them full. So when we stop at Walmart, we grab not only fresh fruit, but peanut butter for dipping, too.
(Oh, that Chocolate Jif Whips? That’s for me and the hubs at the hotel. Move along, nothing to see here…)
With a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old, our snacks range from dippable to squeezable. I rely on Fruit•Fulls pouches because they are easy to eat and won’t spill.
Plus, unlike other straight applesauce pouches, they have a little “oomph” from oats or chia, and they’re non-GMO. That’s a HUGE selling point for this mom.
So where are we headed now that we’re SNACKATION-ready? Well, I’ve planned a weekend that starts at Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA and ends with 2 days in Ocean City, MD, and I can’t wait to get my feet in the sand! It’ll be the kids’ first time at the beach, so it’s kind of a big deal to me.
But first, the REAL big deal to my son – his first camping trip! He’s been helping my dad rebuild a vintage Serro Scotty camper for almost a year, and they’re about to take it out for the first time. For a 5-year-old and his Pop Pop, this is big, folks. Very, very big.
It used to look like this…
There’s going to be a lot of snacking going on in that beauty. I can’t wait to show you what it looks like now! Stay tuned for more pics…
How do you pack for a SNACKATION?
