This post about all-natural, gluten-free snacks was brought to you by Tyrrell’s, who provided a sample product to facilitate our review.
May is Celiac Awareness Month, so I’m focusing a bit on gluten-free options right now. But somebody needs to tell me when Flavor Awareness Month is, too, so I can feature these chips again! The fact that Tyrrell’s Hand Cooked English Chips are gluten-free and all natural is a huge plus, but it’s the range of spectacular flavors that has stocking our pantry. These will be our go-to summer picnic take-along this year!
Tyrrell’s Chips (recently launched in the U.S.), are all natural, gluten-free and come in seven delicious and eccentric flavors, with something for everyone’s taste: Lightly Sea Salted, Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar, Mature Cheddar & Chives, Sea Salt and Black Cracked Pepper, Sweet Chili & Red Pepper, Worcestershire & Sundried Tomato, and Beetroot, Parsnip and Carrots with a Pinch of Sea Salt. They’re all made in the UK, direct from Tyrrell’s Farm, where they use all of the potato and cook them in small batches to keep them crispy and crunchy.
And crispy crunchy they are! These handcooked kettle-style chips are the best sandwich sidekick, hands down. In fact, I like them ON a sandwich (especially the Sweet Chili and Red Pepper on chicken salad with fresh greens!)
Forget croutons and crumble the Mature Cheddar & Chives chips in your soup or on a salad. We all know they both benefit from a little added crunch! Just be careful, because a handful has been known to turn into five.
The Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar flavor is a great way to make fish and chips easy (which I discovered after ordering takeout from a local restaurant that makes killer fish but really sub-par fries.)
But above all, I think my favorite Tyrrell’s chips are the Veg Chips. Made with beetroot, parsnip and carrot they’re a colorful departure from your everyday potato chip, and a fun way to get kids used to some different ways to prepare veggies.
Check ’em out up top, in all of their garden-y glory!
Over in the UK, Tyrrell’s carries a boatload of other items, too. From Lobster flavored chips to Sticky Toffee popcorn, and lots of other unique goodies in between. I say we start a petition to bring them ALL here to the US!
And, as a longtime copywriter myself, I have to give props where they’re due. There aren’t too many products that have me reading the entire package and/or website because the copy is fun. Tyrrell’s definitely has some cheeky personality!
