Summer Fun for Kids: Throw a Glow Party!

This post was sponsored by Oriental Trading. All opinions are our own.| Planning summer fun can be a struggle, but if you’re creative, it doesn’t necessarily have to be expensive. And when we come up with an idea that works, we moms have to help a sister out, right? So here it is: It’s summertime, kids have extra energy to burn, so let them stay up a little past dark and throw a glow party!

Summer Fun for Kids: Throw a Glow Party!

Everything You Need to Throw a Glow Party

To throw a truly epic glow party, you’ll need more than your average glow sticks. Why not combine neon “crack and glow” items with glow-in-the-dark trinkets, like tattoos and bouncing balls. Whether you’re hosting your glow party outside or in, you could even set up a black light to amp up the glow factor even more.

While you can get the best selection of glow sticks at Oriental Trading, you don’t have to stop there. Here’s just a sampling of the affordable glow party supplies you’ll find:

  • Glow in the Dark Sunglasses
  • Inflatable Striped Glow Beach Ball
  • XL Glow in the Dark Cups
  • Glow in the Dark Tattoos
  • Premium, Swizzle and Tri-color Glow Sticks

What to Do at a Glow Party

Games don’t have to be complicated, and Oriental Trading has some fun kids’ glow party game ideas on their website. Play Glow in the Dark Tic-Tac-Toe, ring toss or hopscotch using simple glow sticks and a few accessories! Or even Glow in the Dark Water Pong (No beer, friends. This one is for the kiddos!)

Here are a few more ideas to up your glow mojo:

Push glow sticks inside balloons before blowing it up.

Hide small glow sticks inside plastic eggs and have an off-season egg hunt!

Have a pool? Turn the lights off and toss some glow sticks in for a totally techno effect! (Probably better for the bigger kids, of course.)

Florescent black lights will help amplify the glow! Highlighters will glow under a black light, so get creative with t-shirts or highlighter art projects.  Curious as to what else will glow? Here’s a list of things that glow under a black light.

Visit the Oriental Trading Ideas Page for more party and craft ideas.
