I’m talking about the afterpains. The hair loss. The sad puppy that becomes part of your belly (and never really goes away.)
I’m talking about the bladder leakage. (Don’t worry, no one is listening. It’s just you and me here.)
Yeah, we don’t like to talk about it. But we need to. It happens to the best of us, the strongest of us, the busiest of us, ANY of us – and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
Did you know?
• More people with bladder leakage are in their 20’s than their 80’s
• The average age of someone with bladder leakage is only 52!
• More people with bladder leakage are 50 or younger than 60 or older!
Does that make you feel any better? No, me neither, really. What does make me feel better is knowing that there is a solution that offers bladder leakage protection without making you feel or look like you’re wearing a diaper. Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs have a lower rise+ for an underwear-like look, fit and feel, and they’re available in beige and black.
Black low rise? Dare I say Depend has gone sexy? You tell me. Would you be comfortable with this, should you happen to find yourself with a tiny bit of panty peek? (They don’t actually show like this, but this is what it would look like if anyone saw your waistband.)
Personally, I think this is pretty BADASS. (No pun intended, of course.) I just love that they look like underwear. What freedom this offers to so many women!
So, what do I know about it?
I decided during my last pregnancy that my post-baby goal was a half-marathon. Little did I know that during training, I’d find myself running practically cross-legged during my last half mile because I had to peeeeeee. Like, now. And I didn’t always make it home. (Check out that post-baby flyaway hair!)
I’m happy to say that I did finish that half marathon, and that my bladder leakage isn’t enough to make me stop running, but it can be a real confidence-killer. And that time I had bronchitis and a killer cough? Or those last weeks of my most recent pregnancy? Well, let’s just say there have been a few times I could have used a Depend Silhouette.
What’s with the “Drop Your Pants” thing?
Depend is entering year two of their Drop Your Pants for Underwareness movement – an effort to break down the bladder leakage stigma. As part of Underwareness, the Depend brand is encouraging people to show their support for women with bladder leakage. For every photo and video shared using #Underwareness and featuring Depend products, the Depend brand will donate $1, up to $3 million, through 2016 to fund charities that advance the research and education of bladder leakage.
