This homemade sugar scrub recipe and accompanying post were created as part of the #NOWWellness Blogger Ambassador campaign for which I am financially compensated. All opinions are my own and honest based on my experience with NOW Foods products. #ad
My friends at NOW Foods have asked me (and the rest of the #NOWWellness ambassadors) to choose our favorite product of the week, and I’ve run into a problem. I just can’t do it. First, I fell in love with their XyliWhite fluoride free toothpaste. Then, the Herbal Revival™ all natural shampoo and conditioner. And now? Now it’s the decadently rich and moisturizing organic sweet almond oil. I’m tempted to say that it’s like butter, but that wouldn’t do it justice because even butter isn’t this smooth and silky.
If you’re wondering what to do with almond oil, you’re not alone. I was, too. But this expeller-pressed, food grade almond oil is good for all skin types and won’t clog your pores, so I knew what I had to do…
Home spa time!
Back when I used to have crazy acid peels done to my face, I was told that I have slow cell turnover. This means that my skin needs a good exfoliator, but I don’t want it to be too harsh or drying. So I created a simple scrub made with all natural ingredients that exfoliate and moisturize, and it’s been working wonders on my skin.
It starts with cane sugar. I use superfine sugar because it’s not too abrasive, but if you are using the scrub on feet or elbows, you could use coarse sugar instead.
To the sugar, add a bit of pure honey. Not only will honey give your skin a pampered glow, but it’s also antibacterial which may help prevent acne.
Then, the sweet almond oil. Just enough to make it all stick together – not too runny. You want to be able to scoop it up and not have it all run off your hand and down the drain.
Tip: If you have any limes laying around, cut one in half and use it to rub some of this heavenly ambrosia on your feet. They’ll feel fantastic, and the lovely scent will leave you invigorated. (Need to relax? Add a drop of lavender essential oil.)
The moisturizing honey and almond oil will renew your skin, but it’s the relaxed smile brought on by those few minutes of pampering that will really make your face look great. 🙂
It’s #NOWWellness at its best.
- ¼ cup superfine sugar
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 2 Tbsp almond oil
- Add all ingredients to a small bowl or jar. Mix until well blended; use promptly.
- May be used as a mild exfoliator on skin. Wet hands and rub gently in a circular motion to soften rough patches. If using on face, use extra gentle pressure so as not to scratch skin.

I love using scrubs like this to shave my legs! Shave once, scrub then shave again for the smoothest skin ever. It’s perfect for the summer!

Ooh! I don’t pamper myself very often but I am tempted now. It looks easy and my heels could really use it. I like that the smile is the best beauty treatment.
