A few days ago, I received a really special package in the mail. It was something that I wasn’t sure I’d ever need.
My first pieces of baby clothing…for a little girl.
After our losses, and given the fact that I am creeping up on the big 4-Oh!, I truly thought I’d never have a daughter. But my son was such a wonderful gift that it didn’t really bother me. I just thought it was what it was.
But now that I am, in fact, going to be the mommy of a little lady, it seems that I’m going to need to learn a lot about “girl stuff!” Now, let me be clear: I’m not into gender specifics, and I don’t think for one second I need to dress a girl in frills and glittery pink. But I do want to figure out what kind of clothing I feel comfortable with until she can choose her own, the same way I did for my son.
So, when this package arrived from Zutano containing the sweetest little newborn outfit, the first thing I thought was, “Hmmm…pink can be fun! And bright! And funky paired with fun owls and sunny yellow!”
