Wow…we’ve known each other this long, and I just realized I’ve never introduced you to my other baby!
I’ve been in love with my sunny yellow Kitchen-Aid mixer since my husband bought it for me last year. I love the yellow color, especially because it coordinates with all the lovely earth tones in my spice rack (and speaking of spice racks, I’m considering a wall spice rack now that this baby is taking up my counter space. It’s the only con I can think of.) I got it just as we moved into our new home, and I’m not sure I’ve even turned it off since. It makes cameo appearances in lots of my food photos, and I can’t put it any more simply than this: I LOVE IT. It’s marriage material. It’s song-and-dance worthy. It’s truly the best gift I’ve ever been given, and I’m so excited that it’s going to help me make years and years’ worth of kitchen memories with my son!

Bring it on, 2012. I have big plans for the new year. Probably too big, but it can’t hurt to aim high right?
One thing on my lengthy list is to simply stick to my guns on things like making my home as greentastic as it can possibly be. Developing a strong eco-conscious is a journey that certainly has its ups and downs, and it really helps me to reaffirm my commitment once in a while.
So there. Reaffirmation has begun.

One paradox I’ve noticed since getting rid of toxic household products is that while I do miss lovely scented candles (pumpkin! sugar cookie! cinnamon stick!) and room sprays, I’ve become really sensitive to them when I do come in contact with them now. Ah, snacking. It really gets a bad rap, doesn’t it?
I love snacks. All kinds. Sure, there are snacks that deserve our scorn (yeah, I’m talking to YOU, Extreme Cookies and Cream!) But there are others that make up for it. Delicious, feel-good snacks that give you that crunchy, snacky satisfaction without all the guilt.

I know, I know. A cracker might not sound all that exciting. After all, it’s just a vehicle for whatever yummy cracker-topper you’re loading it with, right? Wrong!
