“Enjoy every minute! They grow fast!”
How many times did you hear this when you were expecting? I think I heard it every hour, on the hour, and it got really annoying. Because I got it. I knew the days would go by quickly, blah blah blah.
The joke was on me, apparently, because I had no idea the warp speed with which my children would grow and change. It’s mindblowing! Continue reading

I can’t believe it. In 12 weeks, I’ll have a baby girl. I’ve been so, so, so busy lately that I am barely prepared for this baby, but you always pull it together in time, right? I hope so. There’s not a whole lot that we need, but I did realize recently that we should probably buy her some clothes!
I’m so used to gravitating toward the boys’ things that it’s hard for me to browse the girls’ section. I don’t like a lot of what I find – glittery, sparkly things with words like “Diva” on them. Animal prints. The state of little girl clothing is not pretty lately, so I’ve been on the hunt for simple, classic pieces with a feminine touch, and lucky for me, Paige Lauren (the founder of PAIGELAUREN BABY) was on the same mission, and she has made it possible for moms like me to find beautifully constructed, uncomplicated pieces that are soft, comfortable, and timeless. A few days ago, I received a really special package in the mail. It was something that I wasn’t sure I’d ever need.
My first pieces of baby clothing…for a little girl.
After our losses, and given the fact that I am creeping up on the big 4-Oh!, I truly thought I’d never have a daughter. But my son was such a wonderful gift that it didn’t really bother me. I just thought it was what it was.
But now that I am, in fact, going to be the mommy of a little lady, it seems that I’m going to need to learn a lot about “girl stuff!” Now, let me be clear: I’m not into gender specifics, and I don’t think for one second I need to dress a girl in frills and glittery pink. But I do want to figure out what kind of clothing I feel comfortable with until she can choose her own, the same way I did for my son.
So, when this package arrived from Zutano containing the sweetest little newborn outfit, the first thing I thought was, “Hmmm…pink can be fun! And bright! And funky paired with fun owls and sunny yellow!”
