Coffee. COFFEE. Coffeecoffeeecoffeeeee.
We moms talk a lot about coffee, don’t we?
There’s good reason for that. When parenthood turns your entire world upside down, a good cup of coffee is one of the things that can help right it again.
Everything runs a little more smoothly with a good cup of joe in hand. Bad night’s sleep? Have some coffee! Work deadlines? Brew up a fresh pot! Bad hair day? Coffee to the rescue!
See…me first thing in the morning, before coffee and after.
Even my surroundings seem to benefit from the magic of coffee. Here’s my kitchen table first thing in the morning, and then after a tall, hot one. It’s amazing what adequate java can do to eradicate those piles of papers that multiply like rabbits overnight!
And the bathroom? AMAZING!
OK, so that is a before/after from our remodel. But you know that didn’t happen without a lot of coffee.
But seriously, home-brewed coffee sure has come a long way in recent years, and my Keurig rivals my smartphone on the list of items I could never live without.
It’s comforting to know that home-brewed coffee isn’t just fast and easy, but it can also be top-notch in quality and flavor. No sacrifices needed. It’s a good thing, because I definitely don’t want to be leaving the house to fuel up in the a.m. with morning monkey hair.
These days, I’m waking up with McCafé. I love a good medium to dark roast, and now that their coffee pods are available at Walmart, I can grab them on the go, even in my sleepless stupor.
(Finding boxes with coupons attached is a nice bonus, too.)
- It’s made with 100% Arabica Beans (I know, sounds like marketing jargon. But nope – it matters. Really. Those smooth, quality beans make a difference.)
- It’s harvested from the rich soils and mountainous regions of the foremost coffee-growing areas of the world (a well-bred bean, for sure!)
- There are 8 flavors to choose from (now, if we only had that 8th day in the week…)
- Premium bags and coffee pods are available (brew for one, or brew for a bunch! It’s nice to share.)
But the real test of a cup of coffee is how it tastes, right? I’m a little bit picky, so I was skeptical – but McCafé passed my groggy morning test. I look SO forward to that cup (I only drink one, maybe two a day, so it CANNOT fail me!) and the flavor is smooth, bold and dark. Not weak, not bitter.
In fact, it’s the perfect base for my favorite creamer!
Because in this house, coffee just ain’t coffee until you sweeten it up.
I’ve been experimenting for a while with homemade coffee creamers, and I do believe I’ve hit upon a winner – check our my easy homemade Bear Claw coffee creamer recipe below! Pair it with an actual bear claw, and you just might start springing out of bed with a smile.
