I participated in the Mom Blog Tour at the Summer Fancy Food Show on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers and received Kohler Chocolates to facilitate my review.
See that name up there? Kohler? Ring any bells? Yup, you got it – the same name that you associate with quality kitchen and bath fixtures is also synonymous with top-quality handcrafted chocolates!
KOHLER Original Recipe Chocolate signature lines are available year-round at the Craverie Chocolatier Café and online at www.KohlerChocolates.com. The Craverie Chocolatier Café is one of 12 dining establishments throughout Destination Kohler, a resort area located in Kohler, Wisconsin. The resort is a true destination, with a Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond American Club hotel, four Championship golf courses and a Forbes Five-Star Kohler Waters Spa.
The Kohler chocolate story began with Herb Kohler, Kohler Co. CEO & Chairman, who believed the world deserved a better turtle, and he wanted it to be available at the Kohler resort. After private chefs produced over 100 batches, 2007 marked success and the beginning of KOHLER Original Recipe Chocolates.
Please meet the Original Buttery Terrapin.
I was beyond lucky to meet with the folks at Kohler, including Head Chocolatier, Anette Righi DeFendi, who graciously allowed our #MomBlogTourFF team to sample their creations. As much as I loved the Original Terrapin, my absolute favorite was the Blackstrap version. Not too sweet, perfect velvety texture. (And I could tell, this was our Host Chocolatier’s pride and joy.)
The sampling didn’t end there. What really impressed me about Kohler Fine Chocolates is their commitment to fine ingredients and the sheer variety. Sugar-free? You’ll find it. No food dyes? No problem. There’s something for everyone in Kohler’s line.
And that butter toffee you see below is definitely something for me. 🙂
The real stars of the show in NYC were the three new product releases from Kohler. Which one strikes your fancy?
Dark Chocolate Candy Bars – A classic favorite, these dark chocolate candy bars are now available in three varieties: Savory, made with 55% cocoa; Complex, made with 70% cocoa and Bold, made with 78% cocoa.
Sugar-Free Landscape Tiles – Offering the same delicious taste of Kohler Chocolate, but without the sugar, Landscape Tiles are made with no-sugar added dried blueberries, roasted almonds and sugar-free chocolate that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
Divine Chunks – Filled with a chunky peanut butter center, the Divine Chunks are available with a milk chocolate shell. Each handcrafted piece has a unique color of pink and purple.
Above, behold the lovely pinkish purple peanut butter Divine Chunks (with just a hint of sparkle.) These were (almost) too pretty to eat!
And below, the sugar-free Landscape Tiles. Aren’t they just so…dignified? I need these at my holiday parties!
The chocolate creativity doesn’t stop there. The folks at Kohler are experts at mixing and pairing chocolates with other unique flavors, which results in pure artistry. The Garden Ganache,, for example is the faultless chocolate for that person who truly appreciates a beautiful piece of art. Inspired by garden varietals, the colors of these hand-painted milk chocolates hint at their unique flavors, including Raspberry, Crème Fraiche, Hazelnut Coffee and Macadamia Nut.
And then there are the Rare Facets, inspired by sparkling gems and artfully created with 63% dark chocolate and flavors such as Pineapple, Sour Cherry, Cranberry-Raspberry, Blueberry, Mandarin Ginger and Pomegranate.
It’s kind of a chocolate lover’s dream. And speaking of dreams…
It’s the Kohler Chocolates Holiday Caramel Collection, and the members of our team got a sneak peek!
Are you ready for this?
A more beautiful box of chocolates I never did see.
Carefully molded in holiday colors, these would make a great gift for absolutely anyone on your list, and they would be an especially festive garnish to any cookie or dessert platter. We don’t use dyes in our cookies, so these could add the lovely burst of color we often miss.
And talk about phenomenal flavor. The caramels in this collection feature centers inspired by the flavors of the season: Golden Caramel, Sea Salt Caramel, Almond Caramel and Gingersnap Caramel. And this is not the type of caramel that will leave your jaw tired. It’s the soft, creamy, liquidy caramel that just might end up on your chin if you’re not careful.
And when the first layer is gone and you feel that impending sadness that comes with no more caramels…just dig down a little deeper! This baby has a hidden layer for a total of 32 pieces!
