I'm Going Nude This Summer With Rimmel Products #RimmelRealBeauty #Cbias

As part of the Collective Bias@ Social Fabric® community, I was challenged to create natural looks for summer using Rimmel Makeup from WalMart. I was compensated for featuring this summer makeup trend.

Ugh. A lot of my posts start with “Ugh” lately. I need to do something about that. But ever since I left my job and started staying home with my babes, “Ugh” is what I think every time I look in the mirror. I’m in serious need of some Mom intervention.

Even my kids are starting to notice. My son told me the other night that I couldn’t tuck him in until I took a shower! (Dead serious. He said that.) This is getting out of hand, and things are only getting busier, so I need to do something…fast. I can only imagine what my daughter might say if she could…

So when I was asked to check out Rimmel products new $3.97 makeup collection at WalMart, I thought, “Hm? Walmart makeup? I guess I can give it a shot. Maybe there’s hope for me yet?” I don’t wear a ton of makeup, especially non-organic makeup, since my little lady is often chewing on my face, but that doesn’t mean I can’t shine myself up for a date night (if one ever happens, that is.) Besides, there’s something to be said for a swipe of lip gloss and dusting of bronzer to make a mama feel like herself again. SO, off to WalMart I went.

WalMart is always an adventure, as well as an exercise in self-restraint (check out more about our shopping trip and all the cool stuff we found in our Google+ album.) We picked up some outdoor toys to buy me a little sanity this summer, along with some cute 4th of July outfits for Baby Girl.

Then it was time for some presents for Mommy. Did I mention that all Rimmel now has a whole collection of cosmetics available at Walmart for only $3.97 each? I was skeptical, because cheap makeup usually sucks, but this is actually really nice stuff! I assure you it will not end up at the bottom of my back-up bag with all the other stuff I never wear. This is purse-worthy makeup!

I love to wear a nude palette, not only because I’m not a huge makeup person, or because it’s a hot trend, but because bright or dark colors just don’t flatter me. My lips tend to take on a life of their own, so I need a light, understated color when I wear gloss. Rimmel had so many great nude shades of their Stay Glossy Lip Gloss, I ended up buying three!

The gloss is my new favorite for those times when I want to look a little more dolled up. It’s comfortable to wear, and not sticky or gloppy at all. Simple and (dare I say it?) sexy!

I also picked up a Natural Bronzer, Glam’Eyes Quad Eyeshadow, and ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner, all in nude and brown shades that worked perfectly together.

And, lo and behold, after only a couple of minutes in front of the mirror, I think I look like a real person again!

See, nothing too heavy. Rimmel’s nude palette is just right for a shopping trip or day at the beach, but shimmery enough to wear for an evening date night or drinks with friends.

(Sidenote: I think I don’t love taking photos of my own face.)

Anyway, it’s safe to say that I won’t be putting on my face to harvest peas or give the kids a bath, but it’s comforting to have a stash of Rimmel Makeup so I can create a fresh, yet finished, natural look any time I want. (For more makeup ideas, follow Rimmel on Pinterest.)

Now, I just need to make some plans! Anyone want to go out for a drink with me? (I just have to be back by 9pm to read stories. Ha!)

You look beautiful! I am a bronzer, mascara, lip gloss girl myself. Just a thought: if your posts are all starting with “ugh” lately, you might want to consider putting that eyeliner, some mascara, and some gloss on every morning. It’s amazing what looking in the mirror and seeing a made up face will do for your moods, no matter what you have on the agenda that day.
