HALO® SleepSack: Keeping Baby Swaddled, Snug and Safe {Giveaway Ends 3/10}

Shortly before our new baby’s birth, my husband and I headed to the hospital to pre-register. We had a great experience the first time around, so I was thrilled to find out that they had changed some of their policies since the last time we were there…and now they are even more baby-friendly than ever! From standard delayed cord clamping (if baby is not in distress) to doing away with formula samples, the changes now in effect gave me even more confidence for our big day.
Around the same time, I also heard about the HALO® Safer Way to Sleep Initiative and learned that hospitals across the country are starting to use HALO SleepSack Swaddles, which are wearable blankets with a built-in swaddle that wraps around baby, instead of swaddle blankets. Our hospital has yet to adopt the initiative, but that’s OK…I brought our very own HALO swaddle with us! (…and now all the nurses know about HALO’s initiative, too!)
I will admit, I’m one of those moms who sleeps with one eye open for the first few months, checking every five seconds to make sure baby is breathing well. And while I am a believer in swaddling, I’m always afraid baby will somehow free her hands and pull that blanket up over her face. I have found that I rest a lot easier since we started using the SleepSack Swaddle because our little one is snug and secure like a little burrito, without the worry of a blanket that can be pulled or kicked loose in the crib or bassinet.
Since we’re really using ours, I’m definitely planning on picking up another one or two (especially now that I’ve seen all the cute prints on the HALO website. They also have lots of wearable blankets (without the swaddle tabs) including the NEW to die for cotton cable knit sweater design! Isn’t this the cutest, comfiest thing ever!? I want an adult-sized one!
HALO grows with your baby, too, with lots of products for kids past the swaddling stage. (Good news for my 3-year-old!)
Back to the benefits of swaddling…
Since the birth of the HALO® Safer Way to Sleep Initiative, the SleepSack Swaddle, with its roomy sack design, has been deemed “hip healthy” by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute and is now used in almost 1,000 hospital nurseries across the country. The fabrics are premium quality, with no chemicals, and each sack carries a “Back is Best” message right on the front as a reminder of the safest way for baby to sleep.
HALO Innovation’s SleepSack® Swaddle has become the standard for hospital nurseries and parents alike. In fact, almost 1,000 hospital nurseries use the HALO SleepSack Swaddle instead of blankets through the HALO Safer Way to Sleep Initiative. That is 1.5 million births getting first-hand, in-hospital experience with the HALO SleepSack Swaddle and safe sleep practices! Leading health organizations agree that modeling proper baby care in the hospital is the single biggest influence on how parents care for their baby at home.
Another thing I love about HALO is that they work with pediatric experts I really respect, including Dr. Harvey Karp! My husband and I are total devotees of this Happiest Baby on the Block and Happiest Toddler on the Block DVDs, and I’m happy to know that he endorses the HALO SleepSack Swaddle.
A happy, peaceful baby means peace of mind for Mommy, too – and there’s really nothing I appreciate more right now!

    Safety is paramount when choosing a baby crib. The best baby cribs will have Juvenile Product Manufacturers Association (JPMA) certification. This certification ensures that it meets and surpasses many US safety regulations. So, only looking at brands with a JPMA certification is a good place to start. Brands like Munire, Bellini and Bassett cribs as well as others have JPMA certification..
