Premama Prenatal Vitamins: Review and Giveaway {Ends 12/14}

Do you take vitamin supplements? I never did.

I always believed that proper nutrition should come from food, and for the most part, I still do. But this pregnancy really opened my eyes to the fact that it’s not always easy to eat what you need to eat. And when you’re eating for two, it’s more important than ever to make sure your body is getting what it needs.

Lots of things can interfere with your diet when your expecting, like nausea, food aversions, conditions like gestational diabetes or high blood pressure. Heck, with all of those things on my plate, I found that most days, there was very little actually on my plate. Not good for mama, and definitely not good for the little bean.

That’s why I turned to Premama, an all-natural, flavorless, easy-to-digest powdered vitamin formulated just for mamas and mamas-to-be.

As many expectant moms will tell you, those old-fashioned horse pills that are usually prescribed can really do a number on you. They can cause nausea (as if we need any more!), and the iron content can bind up your system for days at a time. (TMI, but SO true!) That’s what makes Premama the perfect alternative: each contains less iron than traditional supplements, but what it does contain is more bioavailable, making it less likely to bother your delicate digestive system. It even has a little ginger to help with nausea (along with all the other important things, like biotin, B vitamins, DHA Omega-3 fatty acid, choline, folic acid and more…)

How do you take Premama?

Simply open the little powder packet and shake or stir it into the drink of your choice, something cold, preferably juice, milk, or iced tea, or even foods like yogurt or applesauce. (Water is ok, too, but you may detect a slight change in flavor.) It is not recommended that you add Premama to hot drinks. Also, be sure to consume your beverage within 5 minutes of mixing, as the ingredients are encapsulated to mask flavor, and that begins to break down once mixed so your drink might taste a little funny.

What did I think?

I really like Premama! I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks, with no adverse effects whatsoever.  I like knowing that the ingredients are all-natural, and that my vitamins come from a company who genuinely cares about pregnant mamas and their comfort. And it’s so easy to take! I honestly cannot swallow those giant chalky pills, so being able to drink my vitamins makes things so much easier (and I am more apt to actually take them this way.) And the packaging really seems to work, because I have them sitting on my desk and I can’t even count how many people have stopped by to ask questions!
