A Lesson in "Girl Stuff" from @Zutano (and $75 #giveaway)

A few days ago, I received a really special package in the mail. It was something that I wasn’t sure I’d ever need.

My first pieces of baby clothing…for a little girl.

After our losses, and given the fact that I am creeping up on the big 4-Oh!, I truly thought I’d never have a daughter. But my son was such a wonderful gift that it didn’t really bother me. I just thought it was what it was.

But now that I am, in fact, going to be the mommy of a little lady, it seems that I’m going to need to learn a lot about “girl stuff!” Now, let me be clear: I’m not into gender specifics, and I don’t think for one second I need to dress a girl in frills and glittery pink. But I do want to figure out what kind of clothing I feel comfortable with until she can choose her own, the same way I did for my son.

So, when this package arrived from Zutano containing the sweetest little newborn outfit, the first thing I thought was, “Hmmm…pink can be fun! And bright! And funky paired with fun owls and sunny yellow!”

…and then it was all over. I started browsing, and now I’m hooked. I love that Zutano has so many different mix and match pieces (which saves a ton of time and money, not to mention frustration when you can’t find the only other piece that matches the cute shirt in your hand) and that they have really unique stuff for girls that is modern and fun without being…well, without being whatever that thing is that I don’t like about most little girl clothes.

If I had free reign to order from Zutano, this is what my haul would look like. Don’t you love the Chocolate 5-Stripe color palette? So cute for fall, and the slouchy booties just make me die (in only the best way, of course.) It says “girl” without screaming it…

And this Penny Lane print…flowery and sweet, with a little pink, but also brown, green, blue and red. Again, lots of pieces that coordinate, a true bonus for those who have trouble matching clothes due to extreme sleep deprivation. 😛
