Non-traditional holiday cards: What do you send?

My day job is in retails, so there is a lot of talk about holiday greetings this time of year. What exactly do we say to customers when they shop in our stores? The answer differs from company to company, but it is something I think about in my personal life, too.

Because we have friends and family that celebrate so many different holidays, we always send out very holiday-neutral cards in December. Each year, I browse the holiday selection at Shutterfly and I find more Holiday Cards than I could possibly imagine. Last year, I chose an autumn design and added photos of our boy playing in piles of leaves. But this year, I’m not sure. From religious, scripture-based cards to ones that just say “Happy EVERYTHING!”, Shutterfly has something for every card-sender’s style. Traditional, modern, funky – you name it, they’ve got it, and they add new ones each year.

I’ve already started browsing the site this year to try and decide on a fun card to send our loved ones. Here are a few favorites so far:

I love the hues in that one! And this one is really festive…

I’m even considering sending a New Year card to welcome in 2013. I think it will be fun, all-inclusive, and a nice change of pace!

No matter what you send, one thing is sure across the board: Shutterfly cards really are beautiful. This will be my fourth year with them, and I’m always surprised by the quality. Even the card stock is impressive! They always arrive looking even nicer than I had hoped. Now, I just need to figure out how to get my little one to stand still long enough for a photo!

…and, if you like what you see here from Shutterfly, enter below to win a $50 gift card! You can even use it great gifts like mugs, magnets, photo books and more. See rules in Rafflecopter form. And don’t forget to visit their site and check out their special offers section at offers.

What do you think? Do you send out cards based on the holiday you celebrate, or do you consider the holiday the recipient celebrates? Do you go neutral, or holiday-specific? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

*Disclosure: I received a gift card from Shutterfly in exchange for this post. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review. I only review products that I use personally and would recommend to my readers based on my own positive experience.

Having kids (or pets) certainly makes holiday cards easier because at least I know that I’m putting photos on them. That goes for most gifts for family as well. For the last few years, the majority of gifts have been from shutterfly!!! I think their photo books are the best.

We always send personalized Holiday cards. To my close friends and family we also send Christmas cards but I like to keep it pretty basic for everyone else.

I love personalized holiday cards. Last year I didn’t have the time to do them like I normally do but I am taking care of it ahead of time this year. I love all of the templates and options Shutterfly has to offer.

I send out Christmas cards to everyone (including my family members who celebrate Hanukkah) because truthfully, they just want to see pictures of my girls. I’m pretty sure what the card says soesn’t matter to them:) Last year, though, I also sent out Thanksgiving/fall-themed cards to family members and plan to do the same this year. As we have added to our family and have more fun seasonal pictures, it’s more fun to send out cards regularly to fit the holiday/seasonal themes:)

We usually do a picture card. Usually it says Happy Holidays or something like that. We also include a newsletter. I dread doing it every year, but I’m happy I did once it’s done!,,
