New Tegu Mobility: This idea has wheels.

ABE is right around the corner, and YOU have the power to impact my prize package! Read on to find out how you can help me secure a BONUS prize to give away during A Blogtastic Extravaganza! (It’s easy – I promise.)

Ever since I saw TheBabyGuy Jamie tweeting about Tegu magnetic blocks months and months ago, I knew I wanted to get my son a set. Simple, safe, sustainable and just plain cool, Tegu blocks are everything I look for in a toy, and this Christman my son was finally old enough to play with them. We got the Discovery set in Jungle.

And they’ve been a favorite of his since he opened them (and Daddy loves them, too. And Pop Pop. And Grandpa…)

Tegu was launched in 2009, and their sleek and unique magnetic wooden blocks have been a hit ever since, especially with conscientious consumers who love their commitment to quality, safety and sustainability. And now, they’ve added a whole new dimension to the Tegu play experience: wheels! The new Tegu Mobility play sets feature the world’s first magnetic wooden wheels, adding an dynamic element that enables the builder to set any Tegu creation in motion.

New Tegu Mobility is available in 4 sets: Maddy Micro and Riley Roadster ($19), along with the bigger and more complex Dart and Hatch ($38). We received Hatch to review. The set included 10 classic Tegu blocks, a magnetic car top and 4 magnetic wheels. They were all easily integrated into the Tegu set we already had, which is a huge bonus in my book!

Here’s a look at Hatch:

A few more facts about Tegu (get ready to fall in love):

  • Tegu founders, the Haughey brothers, founded the company after a trip to Honduras. They embarked on a humanitarian mission to start a company that could use sustainably-harvested tropical hardwoods, entrepreneurship, and fair trade practices to help the city of Tegucigalpa to thrive. It worked.
  • Tegu is committed to safety, environmental stewardship, positive social impact and respect for their employees and customers. They aim to leave the world better than the way they found it, so for each tree they harvest, they plant 100 more (and one tree makes 1000 sets of blocks!)
  • Tegu blocks are crafted from natural, sustainable wood with water-based, non-toxic paints.
  • From the ground up, Tegu blocks were inspired by kids – from the initial idea to the finished design.

If you can’t tell already, I’m just in love with Tegu. This is exactly the type of toy I want my son to have. The type I scour the internet for. The type I feel good about every time I watch him play.

…and the type I want to give to you! I’m thrilled to announce Tegu as a sponsor of my ABE giveaway (1/23)!

The best part? If I get 50 readers to enter the Tegu “How Do You Roll?” sweepstakes, I can give away a BONUS Tegu set! That’s TWO chances to win! Well, I spoke to soon… I tried to enter the sweepstakes, but it’s only for kids who were born in 2008 or earlier. My son was born in 2009, so I can’t enter. Lame. :(
    Anyway, at least I tried!

I wish we could enter however we don’t qualify for several different reasons however I think this is an engaging toy and I’d love to give it a try with my little one. Thanks for sharing about it.

Amazing! I always thought these looked like fun, but I never knew they were sustainable. Definitely a product I could support.
