A Brief Hiatus… and an Announcement!

Hey! Long time, so see!

How the heck are ya?

I didn’t really plan it, but I’ve been on an unexpected blogging hiatus for quite a few days now. A mini sabbatical, maybe? Either way, with the way life has been, I’ve been having a little trouble even stringing words together to complete a coherent sentence. I’m feeling myself crack under the weight of the pressure I’ve been under, so I decided to step away from the blog for a minute. To breathe.

I have a bad habit of taking on too much, and it seems that I’ve done it again. But, I’m working on some plans that will benefit my family in the long run. It sure is a heck of a lot of work right now, though. 😐

In baby news, we’re still hoping #2 joins us soon, but for now we’re enjoying every moment with our 16-month-old boy. He’s the sweetest, funniest, most perfect little person I’ve ever seen, and I SO wish I had more time to spend with him.

I still can’t believe I am the mother of a toddler. He’s showing lots of interest in the potty, getting ready to graduate up to a toddler bed, and while we’re not quite ready to wean completely yet, I’m trying to night wean him as gently as possible. As much as I love this little face at 3am, twice-a-night feedings are just wearing this mama out. :(

Not only is he pretty cute, but he is also the inspiration behind my newest venture (the announcement I mentioned.) I recently enrolled in the Lactation Educator/Counselor program through the University of California at San Diego, and I’ll be starting April 4th! I know, I know. Another thing on my plate? Yes, I’m a little worried that it might tip the scales into complete chaos for me, but it’s all part of the Big Plan I’m brewing…

So, in light of all of the above, I’ve spent the last week tossing around the idea of giving up the blog. As it is, I only blog when Little Man is in bed, but I know the time could be better spent elsewhere, like cleaning or sleeping. Or spending 5 minutes with the hubs.  But honestly, the idea of giving it up just breaks my heart. It’s the one thing I do that is just for me, and I really value the learning, support and friendship (yes, real friendship!) that comes with it, so I’ve decided that ABCGP isn’t going anywhere just yet. 😀

I will have to cut back, though. I’ll blog when I can, and when I need to reconnect, without the pressure of feeling like I have to.  I really appreciate your stopping by and reading, so I hope you’ll stick with me even when things are slow. I still plan to share recipes, review the products I love, and host a few giveaways. All the usual stuff. But I also plan to share some of my favorite blogs, the ones I don’t have much time to read right now, so you can connect with them too.

I’m also accepting guest posts, so please contact me if you’d like to be featured! 😀

Good luck with all that you have on your plate. I know how it goes to have too much and to try and find somewhere to cut so that you can have more time for other things.
The blogging world is an amazing thing because even if you do step back, take a break or walk away completely we are still out here ready to listen, reconnect and support whenever you feel the urge to share again! Love this blogging world.
But if you master potty training and the toddler bed at 16months you MUSY share that with all of us! I would love to have only a few more months of diapers!

I completely understand. Life can get too busy, and you should never feel like you’re going to regret the way you spend your time because of blogging.

I know all about taking on too much! Congrats on starting Lactation courses!! How exciting! Love it!
Try blogging once a week. There are plenty of successful blogs out there that do that. And you MUST post about potty training!!

I know exactly how you feel! Take all the time you need for YOU and your family. We all deserve a much needed mental break once in awhile! I have a 14 month old and a 2 month old, and it can be pretty hard to make the time for anything else sometimes! What kind of guest posts are you looking for? I would definitely be interested. I am not a new blogger, but my current blog IS newer, since I am no longer pregnant and my preggo blog just didn’t make sense to keep anymore. I am trying to build my numbers, and would love to post for other, more established blogs to get my name out there! Please feel free to check out my writing style at my site, and let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

Wow that is a lot of stuff on your plate!

Night weaning was rough here too. It finally worked around 16 months (started the process at 15 months). Good luck!

For me, blogging is a way to get some thoughts out to people who might be interested. If you feel like you’re blogging because you have to, you really do need a break! I suggest keeping it going, but only post when you feel like it. I’m an email subscriber, so I am able to get your posts when you actually post. I like reading what you’ve written, so don’t close it down! Just use your blog as a way to convey important thoughts – don’t worry about making regular posts!
