Spyglass Blues Fest

Well, Shane and I always promised each other that once we had kids, we wouldn’t stop doing the things we love just because it was a little more difficult. So yesterday, we packed up baby and headed to the Spyglass Ridge Winery‘s Annual Blues Fest and Mustang Rally!

This event is always a good time–music, wine aplenty, food, and by the end of the day, lots more (drunken) friends than you started with!

The only problem was the weather. It was almost TOO nice (and HOT!), and we didn’t have a canopy. (We do have one, but it’s huge) I ended up spending most of my time fretting over Finn in the heat. I’m super nervous about sunburns, dehydration, etc. (You know how new moms can be…)

We only ended up staying for about 2 hours, but we got to hang out a bit and dance with our boy on a blanket under the blue sky. Goal achieved.

Here are a the few pics I managed to snap….

This thing gets bigger every year…

Cars. Not really my thing, but fun for some, I guess…

Baby was appropriately accessorized for the day…

and so was Daddy…

Mommy’s fruit cup with creamsicle sauce…Yummy…

and Mommy’s poor, neglected, empty wine glass…(they did have mint tea, though, which made my day…)

He did have a hat on most of the day... I promise!

The highpoint of the day? One of the bands did a funked out version of the Humpty Dance

It’s pronounced with an “umpty.”

I’m spunky, I like my oatmeal lumpy…

I could have listened to that all day. It was dope.

Well, that’s all I have from the Blues Fest. I’m glad we went, but I wish we’d gotten some better pictures to share. But then, there’s a lot of summer left and lots of fun things to come…

Since my post is a little lackluster today, I’ll add on this tidbit: I’m thinking of self-hosting, but I’m not too tech-savvy (and I work on a Mac). Can I do it? Do you recommend it?

Here in Central PA, festival food is pretty huge. Funnel Cakes, pulled pork, PA Dutch fare, deep fried anything…you name it. What’s your favorite festival food?

  1. I’m not one for much festival food, since it’s usually too fried for my tastes. But when I go to the Big E, a festival in western Massachusetts each fall, there’s a pierogie stand that I love to buy foods from. They have different kinds – cheese, potato, cabbage – and are really good, and different from the usual festival fare.

    • I agree…most of it is pretty bad. I ate a fried Twinkie years ago! Horrifying, but I’m a sucker for oddball foods. I will never eat another one!

Lately I’m finding more veg fare, which a huge step in the right direction for Central PA!

I get pierogies a lot, too. They are a pretty sure bet.

  2. i adore blues fests.. or any type of out doorsy music festival that low key and not too crazy.

thta baby toy is super adorable.. lol grape head. hehe
